Job Summary:  The Web Designer will lead Children's Group's online design efforts, providing excellent vision and execution in web design, usability and ecommerce. The right candidate will have the energy to inspire, the experience to lead, and the ability to produce excellent creative results. S/he will have a passion for design and usability and will take a proactive role in improving the user experience, brand equities, and visual design standards for all of our ecommerce efforts. The right candidate will partner with our Creative, Marketing and Merchandising departments to be sure our website and email creative falls in line with our brand guidelines across channels (catalog, web, wholesale), while actively recommending ways to leverage the strengths and unique capabilities of the web channel. S/he will thrive on taking initiative and having ownership in projects, solving problems, asking questions, having a point of view and thinking strategically. This is a hands-on design position that requires substantial contribution to tasks and projects on a daily basis.


Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Demonstrates exceptional skills in design and usability for website, email, and all online marketing efforts
  • Understands ecommerce and web technologies at a high level and stays abreast of changes which could advance our efforts and improve customer experience
  • Creates, reviews, optimizes and approves designs in testing for optimal branding, usability and conversion
  • Confirms all deliverables meet or exceed business objectives, creative briefs and brand style guides
  • Identifies, manages and prioritizes on evolving and shifting business priorities
  • Improves processes, workflows and efficiencies to reduce time to market for design work
  • Responsible for the output of the web design group -- creating high volumes of graphics, pages and flows, emails, wireframes and prototypes within an extremely fast-paced, quick-turn environment
  • Contributes to user testing strategy and execution for all Children's Group brands
  • Ability to work across channels as needed (graphic design support)


The requirements listed below represent the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required, to perform job function:

  • 4 year degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years working in internet marketing and/or ecommerce fields
  • Excellent web design skills, combined with a focus on usability and conversion
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and CSS; familiarity with JavaScript a plus
  • Innate interest in staying on top of trends in the industry, and desire to bring opportunities forward
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills combined with a progressive and positive attitude
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams and promoting partnership
  • Works well under pressure, deftly juggles deadlines, and multitasks effortlessly
